Lesson Notes, 04/09/12

In todays lesson we had a basic introduction to Mrs Abrahamson's side of the course. This involved us grouping the several Drama's we were given into the different genre's of 'Drama' my listings were:

Soaps
- Hollyoaks
- Eastenders
- Coronation Street

Teenage-based
- Shameless

Fictional/Fantasy
- Robin Hood
- Merlin
- Doctor Who
- Torchwood

Period Drama
- Downton Abbey
- Life On Mars

Action/Crime
- Good Cop
- The Wire
- Luther
- Wallander
- Holby City
- Spooks

We also watched a 5 minute clip of Good Cop, we then discussed what had happened in the scene, discussing the camera shots, and specifically why the cameras had zoomed in on the gun, which had obviously been used as a murder weapon, several times. Also we discussed the title sequence, and several viewed their opinion that they did not think that the title sequence correctly linked to the drama, this was because it wasn't very open about what the drama was about, as if you were just to watch the title sequence you would not guess that it was a crime drama, as it just had several views of Liverpool at night.
